With the original idea for the year being ‘Reading: Past , Present and Future’ I decided to continue a style he’s been dabbling in called ‘wimmelbild,’ which means “teeming picture.” Any town can feel like a cluster of architecture styles, old and new vehicles, straight laced people to odd balls, so I used the history of Reading in a giant mound that equals a pagoda. Which is something I wanted to show is inherent to the people of Reading. It is baked into their being, as well as this piece. That’s why it’s called ‘Reading is Ours.’
