OUR MISSION STATEMENT
The Reading Theater Project is a locally-focused theater company, based in Greater Reading/Berks County, PA.
We produce new theater with a focus on the creative process for the artists involved, resulting in a unique production for the audience.
We value collaboration and creative challenges and believe theater is an inclusive experience that can reveal our shared human condition.
Risk-taking and art-making are at the forefront of what we do.

OUR CORE VALUES:
Community & Collaboration
We are a people-centered, collaborative community rooted in and inspired by our local community – prioritizing local playwrights, artists, and stories, and building meaningful connections through shared creative work.
Honoring Stories & Voices
We take seriously the responsibility of telling a story well, especially when it isn’t our own. We aim to represent voices, histories, and experiences with care and authenticity.
Artistic Exploration & Growth
We provide a welcoming, supportive space for artists to try new things, take creative risks, and grow—encouraging both emerging and experienced voices to move beyond their comfort zones.
Excellence in Craft
We are committed to thoughtful, disciplined work—approaching each project with care, rigor, and a dedication to continual growth in our craft
Inclusion & Accessibility
We believe theater should be inclusive and accessible, and we work to reduce barriers through respectful practices and flexible models.
Joy & Humility
We approach our work with curiosity, generosity, and joy, embracing learning, welcoming feedback, and supporting one another with humility and respect.
